This summer Recycle Devon has teamed up with Resource Futures and Keep Britain Tidy to offer Beach Days for primary schools in Exmouth.

The aim being to showcase the issue of plastic pollution and promote a sustainable lifestyle.

The Beach Days included a litter pick along the beach, a sustainable fishing activity which highlighted the environmental impacts of different fishing methods, and a discussion and quiz around the impacts of plastic in our oceans and what we can do to reduce it.

So far we have carried out two of these days with two local primary schools; Exeter Road Community Primary School and Withycombe Raleigh Primary School.

Schools who want to be involved in future beach days can contact the Waste Education Team at alex.mack@resourcefutures.co.uk.

The Beach Days are also important for schools looking to become Plastic Free Schools.

Later this month we will be hosting a training event, alongside Surfers Against Sewage, for teaching staff and schools looking to get the Plastic Free Schools award.

Follow the link to book your tickets for the event on Wednesday 29th June at 4pm.
