This summer Recycle Devon teamed up with Resource Futures and Keep Britain Tidy to offer Beach Days for primary schools in Exmouth.

The aim being to showcase the issue of plastic pollution and promote a sustainable lifestyle.

The Beach Days included a litter pick along the beach, a sustainable fishing activity which highlighted the environmental impacts of different fishing methods, and a discussion and quiz around the impacts of plastic in our oceans and what we can do to reduce it.

So far we have carried out two of these days with two Exmouth primary schools; Exeter Road Community Primary School and Withycombe Raleigh Primary School.

Next summer we will extend the offer of Beach Days to any schools who can get to a Devon beach. If you are a school who would like to be involved in future beach days you can contact the Waste Education Team at alex.mack@resourcefutures.co.uk.

The Beach Days could help schools who want to become Plastic Free Schools.
