Today we are celebrating World Thinking Day, a day of friendship, sisterhood, and empowerment for Girl Guides and Scouts.
World Thinking Day was originally celebrated in 1926 by The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) to recognise being part of the diverse global sisterhood. A day where Girl Scouts and Girl Guides across the world speak up about issues that affect girls and young women.
The theme for the 2022 World thinking Day is ‘Our World, Our Equal Future: The Environment and Gender Equality.’
In line with this theme, Recycle Devon are offering a unique badge for Girl Guides and Scouts linked to reducing waste and litter using the 3R’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Here’s how you can get involved:
The challenge is to complete at least 25 out of a possible 40 activities linked to either reducing, reusing or recycling waste. Many of the activities are about becoming more educated about the issues as well as helping to solve them.
You could do a beach clean or litter pick in your local area, learn how to mend something, turn an old sock into a puppet or even finding out where and how food waste is recycled in Devon. .
Discover how to get involved and for the full list of activities and resources visit our youth groups webpage. We’d love to hear what you get up to and celebrate your achievements, so share your success stories with us.
If you want to find out more activities related to World Thinking Day visit the WAGGGS webpage and download their activity pack.
