We are proud that one of our Waste Education Team is also a STEM Ambassador!
Lucy has been working in our team for over 5 years and has been behind recent projects like our Science of Materials worksheets and the History of Waste timeline. She usually runs our school trips to the Exeter Recycling Centre and Exeter Energy from Waste plants plus keeps our website up-to-date.
Lucy trained as a Primary Science Teacher in 2016 after previous careers in ecology, sustainability and the NHS. She loves engaging young people with environmnetal issues, so her STEM work gives her another avenue into schools to do this. She says “Environmental education and communication is really important and lots of people don’t know you can make a career of it. It’s great to talk to young people about these important issues. My science training really helps me to communicate well about difficult topics.”
