A day late but here we go…
It’s World Book Day (yesterday!) and we love a good story here in the Waste Education Team so we would like to share some of our favourite books!
1. Tidy by Emily Gravett
A great story about being too tidy! Amazing illustrations and lots of animals to spot. One to read aloud to 3-6 year olds.
2. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
Classic American book about altruism. Look beyond the simple illustrations for a great examination of the act of giving. Suitable for all but great for KS2 children (8-11).
3. The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
Another classic book – and so relevant to the world today. Protect our natural resources as we can’t survive without them! Should be read and re-read by everyone.
4. Greta and the Giants by Zoe Tucker and Zoe Persico
A familiar story as Greta stands up to giants to save the world she loves. Love the positive message and hope at the end of this book. Suitable for 3-8 year olds.
5. Ada’s Violin by Susan Hood and Sally Wern Comport
Amazing true story of the recycled orchestra of Paraguay. Suitable for all ages.
