Sometimes the world can feel overwhelming, but together we are stronger.

Finding others who share our efforts, concerns, and skills can be an uplifting experience. This was exactly the aim at the Community Action Groups (CAG) skill share, an event that Devon’s Waste Education & Communities Teams attended recently.

This year’s event was all about connection, and we had a great day meeting amazing volunteers and experts from community groups across the county who shared their expertise and experiences.

Their knowledge will help give us resources and ideas to share with schools, teachers and their communities. Each community group at the event actively reduces their community’s waste and helps the environment, by running repair cafes, community fridges, surplus food cafes and much more. Their know-how are the exact type of skills that will be needed in school climate action plans, required by the Department for Education in all education settings by the end of 2025. Schools will be able to access these experts through the new Climate Ambassador scheme, hosted by the STEM Learning platform.
